Scherzer shuts down Padres to lead Nationals to 4-1 win (Yahoo Sports)

Max Scherzer pitched brilliantly for seven innings, striking out a season-high 11 and holding San Diego to four hits in leading the Washington Nationals to a 4-1 victory Saturday night. The Nationals won for the 14th time in 18 games. The Padres were one out from being shut out for the second straight night and the fifth time in 12 games before Alexi Amarista hit an RBI single off Aaron Barrett. Drew Storen came on to strike out Derek Norris for his 11th save.
